The Passion pt II

Last night Sarah and I went and saw The Passion of the Christ at a theatre in Lexington. I thought about writing about the whole experience last night while everything was still fresh in my mind, but decided to sleep on in instead.

To start with, though I knew there was going to be a large number of violent, gory scenes, I was simply not prepared for what happened. For those of you that know me, I'm not prone to tears about almost anything. But this movie had me in tears at various points throughout the movie. And by the sounds in the theatre, I was definitely not the only one. It's one thing to read in the gospels about this time period of Christ's life on earth, but to watch it in color on a huge screen in such detail as Gibson decided to portray is another story. The story runs very close to scripture, with some license that is well within the bounds of the story itself. But on that note, I don't think I ever want to see it again.
