The Passion pt II
Last night Sarah and I went and saw The Passion of the Christ at a theatre in Lexington. I thought about writing about the whole experience last night while everything was still fresh in my mind, but decided to sleep on in instead.
To start with, though I knew there was going to be a large number of violent, gory scenes, I was simply not prepared for what happened. For those of you that know me, I'm not prone to tears about almost anything. But this movie had me in tears at various points throughout the movie. And by the sounds in the theatre, I was definitely not the only one. It's one thing to read in the gospels about this time period of Christ's life on earth, but to watch it in color on a huge screen in such detail as Gibson decided to portray is another story. The story runs very close to scripture, with some license that is well within the bounds of the story itself. But on that note, I don't think I ever want to see it again.

Republicans for Edwards
Moxie has come up with something that had me nearly rolling on the floor with laughter when I saw it. Republicans for Edwards is something she came up with because of the following logic:
When all is said and done either George Dubya will get a second term or one of those morons will be leading this country. It's in everyone's best interest to have the least moronic Dem running in November.
The banners are great, but I'd rather they elect the most moronic Dem to make it even easier for Bush to win.

The Passion
Bill Hobbs has posted an email that's been bouncing around the net concerning the upcoming movie The Passion of Christ. The email written by Jody Dean, a Dallas television reporter, describes her reaction to the movie.
The truth is this: Is it just a "movie"? In a way, yes. But it goes far beyond that, in a fashion I've never felt - in any forum. We may think we "know." We know nothing. We've gone 2,000 years - used to the idea of a pleasant story, and a sanitized Christ. We expect the ending, because we've heard it so many times. God forgive us. This film tears that all away. It is as close as any of us will ever get to knowing, until we fully know. Paul understood. "Be urgent, in and out of season."
Luke wrote that Jesus reveals Himself in the breaking of the bread. Exactly. "The Passion Of The Christ" shows that Bread being broken.
I suggest you go read the whole thing.

Great Day
Had a great birthday today. The day would have been great no matter what as long as one event didn't occur. That event would be a repeat of getting in a wreck on my birthday, like I did last year.
But a lot of things went well today. I sold my old car that had been sitting in the apartment parking lot for way too long. I'm transfering keys/cash with the guy tomorrow afternoon, or at least that's the plan.
Came to Lexington as Sarah wanted to do something for me today. She took me to a new Indian restaurant in Lexington called Tandoor. It was quite good, though both of us picked a dish that would be hard to screw up (chicken curry) and the samosas were a tad bit on the spicy side. Then it was off to a comedy club, Comedy Off Broadway. The main act was very funny, but the rest could have been left out for the most part.
All in all, today was a good day for a 26th birthday. I'd just like a couple people to stop reminding me that it's only four more years to 30.
