Tired but at peace

F

or one of the few times in the past six months I'm at peace. I like this feeling. I wish I had it more often and I'd like to thank my new friends at church for helping me find it by acting as what I believe to be God's agents.

Church

I

finally joined a church this weekend for the first time since high school. I've been going to Southeast for over a year and I've constantly been promising myself I'd join since long before Teresa even moved. Saturday, after a sermon on keeping one's word, I finally kept my promise to myself.

LOTR, Reading, School and more

W

ell, two days are gone in my return to the fun environment of computer engineering courses at Speed School. Unlike with yesterday’s class, I’m not look forwarding to more of what’s likely to be the same for today’s class, databases. And of course, the day that the mid-term is scheduled is right after I come back from spending a few days out of town in early October.

Regardless of the boredom from class, the day as turned out rather well. I bought the LOTR: Twin Towers DVD and watched the movie along with the special features about Return of the King. I’ve been re-reading LOTR over the past few weeks and it’s been an enjoyable way to ignore all of the more pressing things in life.

I’m looking forward to the weekend already (which is probably not a good thing). With a few friends coming into town that I haven’t seen in awhile, it should be a lot of fun hanging out with them. So, though I’m not wishing time away, I’m ready for the next couple days to be spent. The question for me is whether I’ll feel the same way on Sunday night.

one, finished, no more... My finals are over and along with them, my first year of law school. No to wait for the grades.

On that and other thoughts of late:

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:4-7

Nearly there...

tatute of Frauds, Parol Evidence Rule, Conditions, Avoidance. . . Ah, Contracts, my last final of the semester is tomorrow and then a weekend to celebrate. And thankfully, just at the right time, KY Derby happens to be the same weekend that my finals are over.

So, what will I be doing this weekend? Grilling out, having a drink, and most important, hanging out with good friends. And to my friends that won't make it to Derby this year (yeah, you), we'll hold a mint julep high and toast you this weekend.
